Looking to 2009

The publishing industry is growing and changing daily, and even though other publishers are laying off employees and cutting back, Tate Publishing continues to grow and move forward.

As we look ahead to 2009, I would encourge you to spread the word about this blog to friends, other authors, etc. so that we are able to better connect with the publishing community and answer questions for Tate authors, non-Tate authors, and others in the industry.

We continue to be the very best option for new authors, and we look forward to spreading the word about who we are and what we do. I know Ryan Tate has blogged about all the services we offer, but as I've heard him say many times, one of the worst things we can do is to sit still and maintain the status quo.

In 2009 there will be more offerings, more opportunity, and more success than ever before for Tate Publishing and our authors. We have a model that works, that serves authors, and that enables us to partner with some of the truly best new writers this industry has seen for some time. The best part is that we have a great time doing what we do. We have turned the publishing world on its ear, and we are turning more heads everyday. We strive towards excellence in all that we do, and we will continue to do so.

Perhaps most importantly, though, we continue to build God's Kingdom and to make a difference in the lives of not only our great authors, but also in the churches, youth, and community ministries and services as we penetrate the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We always take some time to reflect on that as a company at this time of year, and I would encourage you to do so as well. Tate Publishing is driven by the fact that we can and will grow the Kingdom through our business, and at Christmas, it becomes clearer and clearer why we do what we do.

This Christmas, I challenge you to consider how you will build the Kingdom in 2009, whether it be through your book, your business, or your ministry. And I would also challenge you to change what you do and how you do it, even when it is uncomfortable. That may lead to your greatest contribution yet.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6

Tate Publishing Making Large Impact in Distribution Sales

In an era when other publishers – including many of the most recognizable traditional houses – continue to scale back and struggle, Tate Publishing continues to grow and impress major players in the publishing industry.

Our most recent reports from key distribution channels show that we have moved into the top twenty of CBA (Christian Bookseller Association) publishers, and we should crack the top ten in the next calendar year.

We are one of the fastest-going publishers in major distribution circles, holding partnerships with Ingram/Spring Arbor, Appalachian, Baker & Taylor, Anchor, and others.

So what does this mean?

For one, it is especially exciting to hear those kinds of projections in today’s economic climate. But it also means we can’t sit back. We have to continue to be aggressive and set the pace for an industry that is constantly changing. It is our constant goal to give our authors the best opportunity to have a voice in the publishing world through our marketing plan. But it is clear (and very encouraging) that our business and marketing model have proven to be effective so far.

We have matched the concepts of a large, traditional publishing house with the ease and ‘hands-on’ mentality of self-publishing, giving authors the very best chance in a tough and competitive industry. And though we continue to grow, we will never get away from what has made us successful – the personal interaction with our authors and the relationships we’ve built and now maintain with bookstore buyers, store managers, and distribution houses that allow us to penetrate the marketplace on an unprecedented level. Tate Publishing fully expects to continue to be a leader in a time when leaders are hard to find.
